The Story of Professor James Gordon
Once upon a time on the breezy coasts of the West Country, a young James Gordon fell in love with the sound of seaside laughter, the delighted squeals of children, the chuckles of grandparents, and the joyful chaos that only a very cheeky puppet can cause.
What began as a fascination with a tiny striped booth and two wooden characters soon became a lifelong adventure. James studied the rhythms, the jokes, the slapstick timing and, most importantly, the way a simple puppet show could bring a whole crowd together. In 2002, he stepped into the booth himself, and Professor James Gordon was born.
Since then, he has travelled from village greens to bustling holiday parks, from cosy care homes to lively family fun days, carrying with him a colourful cast of characters and a very traditional sense of mischief. Every show is a little bit different, but the aim is always the same: to fill the day with laughter, surprise, and that special kind of magic you only find in a Punch & Judy show.

• Ongoing sharing of ideas, skills, and stories with fellow professors
• Upholding high standards of professionalism, safety, and family-friendly fun
Each and every performance is delivered with Professor James Gordon’s whole heart; he is constantly exploring new "bits" to sprinkle into the next adventure. It is his mission to ensure that every show grows even more magical than the one before.
Our Mission
Our mission is delightfully simple: to keep the classic magic of Punch & Judy alive and giggling for generations to come.
We believe laughter should be loud, shared, and a little contagious. Families need moments they’ll talk about for years to come. Traditions are meant to be treasured and enjoyed with a modern sparkle.
Every performance is crafted to be inclusive, engaging, and joyfully interactive. Children become part of the story, grown-ups rediscover their inner child, and together we create a little pocket of happiness that lingers long after the puppets take their bow.
Where We Bring the Magic
Professor James Gordon is based in Somerset and happily travels across the South West to wherever laughter is required.
Whether you’re planning a children’s party or a community celebration, a small gathering or a big day out, Professor James Gordon’s Punch & Judy Show promises a colourful booth, a classic cast of characters and a generous helping of old-fashioned fun, with a whimsical twist just for you.
