By booking James Gordon’s Punch & Judy Show, you agree to these Terms and Conditions for all performances and events.

1. Professional Membership & Standards

The show is performed by a Full Member of the Punch and Judy Fellowship, committed to maintaining high professional and ethical standards at every event.

2. Insurance & Compliance

The performer holds £5,000,000 public liability insurance and will provide proof on request. All performances are conducted in line with current health and safety expectations for public events.

3. DBS & Safeguarding

The performer is DBS checked. A responsible, independent adult must always be present during the performance; the entertainer does not accept responsibility for supervision or behaviour of children.

4. Parental / Adult Responsibility

While every reasonable care is taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable show, responsibility for children’s safety, behaviour and general supervision remains with parents, guardians or organisers at all times.

5. Site Safety & Risk Assessment

Before each performance, the performer will visually assess the performance area for hazards (e.g. uneven ground, glass, wasp nests, strong sun) and may request adjustments to the layout or seating to ensure a safe environment.

6. Equipment, Power & Weather

The Punch & Judy booth and equipment are owned and operated by the performer. The booth will be suitably secured (with weights, guy ropes, and tent pegs) depending on the surface. The performer is largely self‑sufficient and does not necessarily require mains electricity, but reserves the right to cancel, pause, or adapt the performance if weather or site conditions make it unsafe.

7. Performance Area & Audience Positioning

A clear performance area and a designated seating zone for children (“magic carpet” area) must be maintained. Audience members should follow the performer’s instructions on where to sit and not touch equipment, ropes, or pegs.

8. Use of Assistants & Props

From time to time, children may be invited to assist with magic tricks or routines. The performer will supervise their position and use of simple props, which are regularly checked for safety. Participation is voluntary and at the discretion of parents/guardians.

9. Bookings, Repeat Engagements & Cancellations

Bookings are accepted on the understanding that the show will be delivered as a professional, family‑friendly performance. The show is regularly re‑booked year after year at many events, but dates are subject to availability. Any cancellation, postponement, or significant change to event details should be communicated as early as possible so arrangements and risk planning can be adjusted.

10. Code of Conduct

•  Audience must treat the performer, team, and equipment with respect.
•  No one may climb on, pull, or interfere with the booth, props, or cables.
•  The performer may stop the show without refund in cases of harassment, abuse, or persistent, dangerous disruption.
•  Personal photos/short clips for private use are usually fine, but full recording for commercial use needs written consent.
