Care & Residential Homes
Bring Joy, Laughter, and Therapeutic Nostalgia to Your Residents with a Colourful Punch & Judy Show
Professor James Gordon has been performing traditional Punch & Judy since 2002, delighting audiences of all ages across Somerset, Dorset, Devon, and Cornwall. Each performance blends traditional Punch & Judy puppetry with gentle comedy, audience participation, and simple magic tricks that are easy to follow and fun to watch.
Shows are designed to be fully adaptable, making them ideal for lounges, activity rooms and garden spaces in care homes, nursing homes and assisted living settings.
Professor James Gordon understands the importance of sensitivity, dignity, and inclusion. Performances can be adjusted for dementia-friendly activities, mixed-ability groups and different age ranges, helping to spark conversation, reminiscence and smiles that last long after the show ends.
Each performance is designed to:
• Spark happy memories of childhood
• Create a warm, shared experience for residents, families, and staff
• Encourage residents to join in with call and response fun
As a full member of the Punch & Judy Fellowship, James offers a professional, fully insured service with 5M public liability cover. Performances typically last around 45 minutes and can include a mix of Punch & Judy, magic, and light-hearted audience participation.

FAQ
Yes. The show is designed to be visually bright, easy to follow, and enjoyed from a seated position. We speak clearly, move at a relaxed pace, and can adapt volume, lighting, and interaction levels to suit residents with dementia or limited mobility.
A standard show lasts around 30-45 minutes, but we can adjust the length to fit your activity schedule, mealtimes and residents’ needs.
The show is lively but not overpowering. We control the volume carefully and can keep things quieter and calmer if you have residents who are sensitive to noise.
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for busy periods such as Christmas, summer holidays, and special events. However, we will always try to accommodate last-minute enquiries where we can.
We are based in Somerset and regularly perform across Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. If your home is outside these areas, please get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.
